This notice explains how Short Pitcher handles information when you browse the site, create an account, or submit a startup profile. Last updated: October 17, 2026.
Information we process
- Account information: your email address and authentication data needed to create and secure your account. If you choose Google sign-in, Google provides account information such as your email address and, where available, your name. Short Pitcher does not receive your Google password.
- Startup profile information: startup name, contact email, logo, description, website, and optional location that you submit. The startup name, logo, description, website, and location are public. The contact email is not shown on public startup cards and is used to manage the profile.
- Technical and preference information: information processed by our hosting, authentication, database, storage, and security providers when they deliver the service, as well as your saved analytics choice. Analytics and advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies as described below.
Please do not include sensitive personal information in a public startup profile.
How we use information
We use account information to authenticate you, verify email addresses where required, protect accounts, and associate profile changes with the account that submitted them. We use profile information to display and maintain directory listings, and may send a welcome email when an account is created. We use technical information to operate, protect, troubleshoot, and improve the service.
Where EU or UK data protection law applies, we process account and profile information as needed to provide the service you request, use consent for optional Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, and rely on legitimate interests or legal obligations where appropriate for security, support, and legal compliance. You may withdraw consent for optional analytics by changing your saved choice as described below; withdrawal does not affect processing that took place before withdrawal.
We do not sell personal information
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others, and do not provide your account contact email to third parties for their own direct marketing. We do disclose information to the service providers and partners described in this notice when necessary to operate the site, authenticate accounts, store profiles, measure use, or display and support advertising. Some US privacy laws define “sale” or “sharing” broadly; Google AdSense may process information for personalized advertising as described below. Where applicable, you may request that we stop processing for targeted advertising or other legally defined sale or sharing by emailing us. We will handle verified requests as required by applicable law.
Service providers, analytics, and advertising
We use Supabase for authentication, database, and logo storage; Vercel for hosting; and Google for optional Google sign-in and website favicon requests. When you enter a website and leave the startup description blank, our server may request that site's public page to suggest its published description metadata. The suggestion is editable and is not saved to your profile unless you submit it. A favicon request can disclose the website address you entered to Google. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity are loaded only after you accept the separate analytics choice. Google AdSense is loaded on each page independently of the analytics choice.
Google AdSense is also used to provide advertising. Google and its partners may use cookies, device identifiers, or similar technologies to deliver, measure, or personalize ads, subject to your region, settings, and Google's policies. The consent notice controls Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity only; it does not control AdSense, which is loaded on each page. The site does not currently provide a site-level advertising opt-out control. You can manage available Google ad personalization settings through Google. Where applicable law gives you a right to opt out of targeted advertising or related processing, contact us using the details below. Third-party providers' processing is subject to their own privacy notices.
When your browser requests the site's Google Fonts or JavaScript library files from jsDelivr, those providers may receive technical information such as your IP address, browser details, and the requested resource. Each provider's own privacy notice explains its processing.
Passwords and account security
Email/password accounts must use a password of at least 8 characters when created through Short Pitcher. Choose a unique password, do not reuse a password from another service, and do not share it. Password authentication is handled by Supabase; Short Pitcher does not store or display your password. You are responsible for activity through your account and should sign out on shared devices. Google sign-in is authenticated by Google and is subject to Google's terms and privacy notice. Email accounts must be verified before a startup profile can be submitted. If you cannot access your account, contact us using the address below; the site does not currently provide a self-service password reset flow.
Cookies and browser storage
The site stores your analytics choice in this browser, and Supabase stores the authentication session needed to keep you signed in. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity are loaded only after you accept analytics. Google AdSense is loaded independently of that choice and may use its own cookies or similar technologies as described above. Changing an accepted analytics choice to rejected stops analytics from loading on subsequent page visits and reloads the current page; cookies that the browser does not permit the site to access may remain. Clearing browser storage may remove your analytics choice or sign you out. Rejecting analytics does not affect core directory, account, or advertising functionality.
Retention and your privacy choices
Public profile information remains in the directory while the profile is active. Account and related information is retained as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the site. Backups and provider logs may remain for limited periods under provider retention practices. You can update your profile after signing in. There is no self-service account or profile deletion control at this time; contact us to request correction or deletion.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us to make a request. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You can reject optional analytics using the consent notice; to change a saved choice later, clear this site's browser storage.
Additional rights by location
India: You may contact us to request information about, correction or erasure of personal data associated with your account, or to raise a grievance. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; this does not affect processing already carried out. We will verify requests and respond within the period required by applicable law. Contact details are below.
European Economic Area and United Kingdom: Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction of processing, or portability, and may object to processing based on legitimate interests or withdraw consent. You may also complain to your local data protection supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).
United States: Depending on your state and whether its law applies, you may have rights to know or access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of personal information, and to opt out of certain targeted advertising, sale, or sharing. You may appeal a denied request where the law provides that right. Email us to exercise a right or appeal; we will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights. The site does not currently provide an advertising opt-out control; contact us to submit an applicable request.
We will respond to requests in accordance with applicable law. We may need to verify your identity or authority. If we deny a request, you may ask us to review that decision where required by law.
Security and international processing
We use third-party providers and technical safeguards intended to protect information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Providers may process information in countries other than your own, where data protection laws may differ.
Children
Short Pitcher is a startup directory for businesses and their representatives. The site does not ask users to provide their age or date of birth. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review the request.
Changes and contact
We may update this notice as the service or applicable requirements change. The revision date above indicates when it was last updated.
